Shane Mosley has admitted to ‘unknowingly’ using steroids before his rematch with Oscar De La Hoya in 2003. In an Interview with ESPN.com Sugar Shane sang a tune similar to Barry Bonds when he appeared in court many years ago.

“Unknowingly, yes, some of the substances they are talking about, were being used as part of the workouts. I didn’t know what the hell it was,” Mosley said from Big Bear, Calif “I had no intentions of trying to cheat or do anything crazy, My thing is live healthy, eat healthy. That’s how I live. I’m not afraid what people will think. I know the truth.”

Mosley also shares another trait with Bonds, he’s a workout freak, very in tune with his body and what he puts in it. Could it be that BALCO was ran by cunning evil chemists that coerced hardcore athletes to take supplements without questioning? According to Mosley… yes, thats exactly what happened. Introducing The Sportaphile Criminal Fantasy League

September 28th, 2007 . by Chuck

Criminal Fantasy League

Here’s the rundown. The league is comprised of ten teams, each team consists of past and present players of their respective sport. Yes, that includes retired players. So if Jim Brown gets caught flashing his wee-wee at a waitress, Football receives points. If Nolan Ryan gets caught jaywalking tomorrow, Baseball gets points. etc…

Coaches, Commissioners, and other executives of note also count.

Sportaphile won’t catch every story around, don’t hesitate to notify us if an athlete finds themselves in legal trouble. Email us at sportaphile@gmail.com or reply in our comment section.

Teams:

MLB Baseball (includes triple A)
NBA Basketball (includes NCAA)
NFL Football (includes NCAA, and Arena League)
NHL Hockey
Wrestling, Boxing, MMA (only wrestlers of note, nobody cares if Chris Candido’s uncle robs a bank)
Golf
Soccer
Tennis
Auto Sports
Other Sports (bowling, pool, fishing, competitive eating)

Point System

Our points will be divided into two sections, allegations, and formal charges.

Since athletes have the resources to make some legal troubles go away, allegations of criminal activity will count torwards our point system at a reduced amount. If an athlete is arrested and formally charged with a crime, a higher amount of points will be credited to his team.

There are some gray areas, such as Rodney Harrison receiving HGH but not being charged with a crime, Sportaphile will deal with such instances on a case by case basis.

Allegations
Infractions & Non-Serious Crimes (ex. Players scalping game tickets) - 10 points
Misdemeanors - 25 points
Felonies - 50 points
Performance Enhancing Drugs - 50 points

Arrests or Formal Charges/League Discipline
Infractions & Non-Serious Crimes - 20 points
Misdemeanors - 50 points
Felonies - 100 points
Performance Enhancing Drugs - 100 points

Scoring starts as of 9/27/07, allegations and/or crimes committed before this date do not count

Video: News Station Plays Wrong Kevin Everett Footage In Live TV Screwup

September 28th, 2007 . by Chuck

HILARIOUS!

News 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida planned to do a quick update on injured Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett. But as anchor Pat Murphy read his report, someone in production played the wrong footage. Instead of seeing Kevin Everett, viewers were treated to a Suge Knight looking prisoner getting hyphy in his wheelchair. I love how Pat says “….THATS the wrong video by the way….” with a smirk on his face.

Tim Hardaway Has Been Cured Of Homophobia

September 27th, 2007 . by Chuck

Tim Hardaway is a new man. Just months ago, he appeared on Dan LeBatard’s radio show in Miami and declared to the world that he hated gays, and stated they had no place in the world. The backlash was massive, Hardaway was pounded (pause) by gay rights groups all around the nation, and removed from his duties at NBA All-Star Weekend. Tim’s businesses also took a hit and were forced to change their names because of his hateful comments. But thanks to the spiritual powers of TV evangelists, Tim has been cured of his homophobe ways and now sees the light.

.. Okay not really.

According to ESPN, Hardaway has been kickin it ‘ol school with various gays through the YES Institute in south Florida. The YES Institute’s mission is to raise awareness on issues facing gay, lesbian, and transgender youth.

“I just wanted to go in and get educated, that’s all. Get educated on what I said and why I said those things,” Hardaway said Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. “I’m working on understanding it now. I’m not really trying to make amends. I’ve been there trying to get help.”

Is his newfound respect for homosexuals genuine? Some Read the rest of this entry »

Video Of Floyd Mayweather’s First Dancing With The Stars Performance

September 27th, 2007 . by Chuck

Sportaphile is late to the party on this one, mostly because on Monday nights, nothing comes before football. Dancing with the stars isn’t exactly high on the priority list. However, due to the fact that Floyd Mayweather makes great television, I guess i can add this onto the Tivo list. I’m sure he did this to cross promote his upcoming fight with Ricky Hatton, so maybe he’ll sneak a few quotables in here and there.

According to ESPN, if Floyd makes it to the end of the series, it would end just weeks before his fight with Ricky. I don’t think this is any kind of distraction, if anything the dancing will help him keep in shape (not that he needs it).

I’m no dance expert, but he did pretty good in my opinion. After viewing this I had to go look up his dance partner, who turns out to be Read the rest of this entry »
