Raider Fans Pray For A Local TV Blackout To Watch Colts/Pats Game
November 1st, 2007 . by DellIt’s rare you see local fans HOPING their hometown team won’t be televised on Sunday so they can watch something else, but that’s exactly what happened this week in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.
The only late games that will be televised on CBS are the Oakland Raiders vs. The Houston Texans, and the much anticipated Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots. 98% of America will be watching the most hyped regular season NFL matchup in history, while the Bay Area and Houston are forced into viewing a train wreck due to NFL regulations.
But alas, if a particular game doesn’t sell out, then it cannot be broadcast locally. This is normally infuriating to fans but in this case it’s a gift from god. For the entire week Raider fans have been praying the game doesn’t sell out and it appears it hasn’t. I haven’t received any official word yet, but it’s looking like ticket sales will come up short.
This leaves the Houston area as the poor bastards who have to watch watch the Texans and Oakland.
