Question?: What’s even more amazing than Devin Hester’s kickoff returns?
Answer: The fact that he’s pretty much the sole offensive threat for the Chicago Bears, despite only touching the ball 5-10 times per game. This guy HAS to be making a zillion bucks a year right???….. not quite. Check out his salary breakdown.
On 7/1/2006, Hester signed a four-year, $2.86 million contract. The deal includes $1.264 million in guarantees.
That’s NOTHING!!For a player who is shaping up to be the greatest return man in the history of the NFL he should be raking in a huge contract. He’s probably making more money from his Campbell’s Chunky Soup endorsements than he is from the Bears. I normally don’t side with the greedy athlete, but Hester should kick his feet up after this season and tell the Bears to take their rookie contract and shove it.
This guy makes less money than Olindo Mare, I shit you not.
The Humane Society has tapped Def Jam Records founder Russell Simmons to appear in anti dogfighting PSAs. Although they don’t specifically say so, Russell was chosen because the hip hop generation is supposed to listen to him and change their ways.
Maybe they should start doing PSAs for police and their dogs. I’m more likely to be affected by one of those wild beasts than I am from a dogfighting ring.
After years of suspensions, months of substance abuse programs, social anxiety therapy, and a few pounds of sticky icky for Roger Goodell, Ricky Williams returned to the NFL last night. Unfortunately, Ricky’s return lasted for about five snaps.
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Lawrence Timmons stepped on Ricky’s shoulder while he lay on the field, causing him to tear a chest muscle. Williams’ injury will cause him to miss the remainder of the season, so the comeback tour is over for now.
The shady part of this ordeal is it appears Lawrence Timmons purposely stepped on him. By looking at the video, you can clearly see Timmons unnaturally kick his leg out to step on Ricky from two different angles. It all happened so fast I doubt Timmons will be seriously disciplined by the league but he deserves what he gets.
Redskins safety Sean Taylor passed away from gunshot injuries after an intruder broke into his home. It’s sad that even when young black men make it out of a bad situation growing up, they still have to face incidents like this while making millions in professional sports.
When you look at the shooting death of Darrent Williams 11 months ago, then the home invasion robberies of Antoine Walker and Dunta Robinson it’s a little unsettling. I can’t recall any other time in recent history where athletes were involved in so many violent altercations. None of these men were out looking for trouble at the time of the incidents, so it’s hard to pinpoint a cause for these problems.
One thing I DON’T like about the Sean Taylor reports I read and see on TV, is them constantly mentioning his prior arrests like they have anything to do with his death whatsoever. ESPN even went as far as to chronicle his NFL fines for late hits and spitting. The man is dead and no one has been arrested yet, but you want to talk about him laying wood on Plexico Burress??? For what?
Jerraud Powers was bitten by a police dog while walking out of the endzone in Auburn’s matchup against Alabama. This is so bizarre all you can do is laugh. Was this german shepard dog a descendant of the civil rights movement? It IS the south afterall.
Rin Tin Tin was like, “nah homie… we got unfinished business” *CHOMP*
