Redskins’ Sean Taylor Shot, In Critical Condition

This is pretty messed up.

If the preliminary theory turns out to be right and Taylor was shot in a home invasion robbery, can we continue to blame athletes for carrying guns? Sean Taylor would be the third athlete this YEAR to be held at gunpoint in his own home. At some point you have to draw a line in the sand and decide to protect yourself.

I’m not saying they have to go all “Tank Johnson and T.I.” on us and get automatic machine guns, but a lil somethin somethin wouldn’t hurt.

*update* 2:11pm PST

Things aren’t looking good for Sean:

Richard Sharpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player’s life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is “nonresponsive and unconscious” and the doctors are “worried about a possible brain injury or death.”

Mayweather / Hatton 24/7 : Episode Two Recap

November 26th, 2007 . by Chuck

The second episode of Mayweather / Hatton 24/7 may not have contained as much comedy as the first, but it ventured deeper into the preparation each fighter takes for the big date.

Floyd and Ricky each have struggles when it comes to boxing. Mayweather has notoriously brittle hands, and is also bothered by elbow and shoulder problems.

Hatton on the other hand gets fat in between fights and has to work off 30+ pounds to get ready.

The segment with Roger Mayweather grocery shopping for Thanksgiving was the sole comic relief for the episode. How he got a goodlooking girlfriend when he can’t string together a coherent sentence is beyond me. Let alone the fact that he has no front teeth. Someone needs to get Roger his own reality show, complete with subtitles so we can understand what he’s talking about.

NFL News & Notes - Week 12

November 25th, 2007 . by Chuck

- It pained me deeply to see the eagles come up just short in the game against the New England Patriots. I can’t dog them for going for it when they didn’t need to at the end, they were aggressive the whole game and it worked most of the time. What I’m most glad about is, the Colts and Eagles have now given the rest of the league a blueprint in stopping them.

I have three fantasy football squads. Brady is on one, Moss is on one, and I have 3 Patriot players on the last. Despite all of that I still rooted against them tonight, my real life hatred of New England supersedes any fantasy ambitions I might have.

- If Eli Manning wasn’t “a Manning”, would the Giants have given up on him by now? Three interceptions returned for touchdowns? … christ.

- Jerry Porter is extremely overrated, but he made two GREAT all pro type catches in today’s win over the Chiefs.

- It was kinda pathetic to see the entire CBS NFL Today crew jump all over Chad Johnson for his cameraman celebration. The media makes me sick sometimes. Chad Johnson is the new Terrell Owens, they’ll be calling for his suspension soon.

- If you’ve never heard of Patrick Willis, you need to acquaint yourself. The 49ers rookie linebacker is an absolute Read the rest of this entry »

Criminal Fantasy League Update 11/24

November 24th, 2007 . by Chuck

Amazingly, the athlete arrests have slowed down over the last few weeks (with the exception of Barry Bonds). Maybe the holiday season serves as a subconscious dose of ackrite. Well…except for these folks….

A waitress in Las Vegas is suing Dennis Rodman for groping and assaulting her at the Hard Rock Hotel. The one odd thing about her accusations is that the alleged ass grabbing assault took place in March 2006. Exactly how long does it take a Las Vegas waitress to get over being hit on again?

You know what I think happened? This chick got tired of none of her friends believing her story about an NBA star picking up on her and decided to do something about it. The accusations of assault do add 25 points for the basketball squad though … chump change I know, but every little bit counts.

Mary Delgado Oprah Color PurpleMary Delgado, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader was arrested for clocking her boyfriend in the mouth Wednesday. Seriously, the next time she asks him to pass the turkey he might wanna go ahead and handle that. Mary now joins an exclusive list of other man beaters like Oprah in The Color Purple. This counts as 50 points for the football squad.

Speaking of the Tampa Bay Bucs, their Read the rest of this entry »

Fernando Vargas vs. Ricardo Mayorga: Round by Round Updates

November 23rd, 2007 . by Chuck

I hadn’t planned to do a round by round live blog for this one, but it seems too good to pass up. This one has the potential to be too exciting. For all of the pre fight hype and predictions CLICK HERE.

The ref is giving instructions, the first round is underway!

Round 1 - Mayorga charges and immediately starts clubbing Vargas wildly, none of the shots land effectively as Vargas blocks most. Vargas catches Mayorga with a semi low blow, and as Mayorga complains to the ref, Vargas clocks him with a hook. After a wild sixty seconds to start the match each man settles in a little. Mayorga connects with wild hooks with thirty seconds left, down goes Vargas, he’s a little stunned. Vargas gets up at the count of five.

Round goes to Mayorga!

Round 2 - Vargas comes out energized and starts ripping shots into mayorga. These guys are talking major shit to each other in between each blow, the ref is trying to Read the rest of this entry »
