R.I.P. Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Hopes
December 20th, 2007 . by DellWe knew it was a longshot, considering the fact that the Steelers have been fading down the stretch.
Aside from the Indianapolis Colts last year, teams who backpeddle into the playoffs rarely make it to the big game. Willie Parker just fractured his leg in the first quarter against the St. Louis Rams, which effectively kills any chance the Steelers had of defeating Indy or New England in the post season.
Najeh Davenport is cool, but more of a complementary back than a guy who strikes fear into the heart of defenses. Willie Parker is someone that had to be accounted for at all times. I know Omar Epps Mike Tomlin is upset, he can’t wait until the day is over so he can fire up a Newport.
According to the NFL Network, Willie Parker had a clause in his contract that awarded him a six figure bonus for leading the league in rushing (which he currently does). Since he will no longer lead after Sunday he’s missing out on a sizable chunk of change.
The good news is, Fred Taylor is officially in the Pro Bowl!!
