Chad Johnson Leaving The Cincinnati Bengals In 2008? … Lets Hope Not
December 28th, 2007 . by DellThere have been rumblings all season about the internal problems with the Bengals. The second disappointing season in a row seems to have caused an implosion in Cincy. Pro Football talk reported Chad gave an interview on Sirius radio that confirms what everyone has suspected.

Chad Johnson a/k/a Ocho Cinco a/k/a Ocho Stinko was interviewed Friday on Sirius NFL Radio by Adam Schein and Ross Tucker. Though we didn’t hear the whole thing (we’re trying to get audio clips or a transcript), Johnson was talking openly about not being with the team in 2008.
In fact, its sounded as if he’s resigned to the fact that he won’t be back. At times, we got the impression that he wants to go to a new team.
I hope the Bengals don’t break out the ” ‘05 Philadelphia Playbook’ and handle this situation like the Eagles did Terrell Owens in his last season there. They got caught up in the media whirlwind with their star receiver and ended up letting him go with nothing in return. Say what you want about Terrell Owens, but numbers don’t lie, after he’s finished with the NFL he’ll have some of the greatest receiving numbers in history.
Chad Johnson possesses some of the same elite abilities, it would be a crying shame if he got traded or released over a fixable problem. Look what happened when Donovan and Terrell broke up, look what happened when Shaq and Kobe broke up, the Bengals won’t be the same. You think T.J. Houshmandzadeh is catching 100 balls with Chad gone?… think again.
In cases such as this when high priced athletes get into it with other players or coaches, I always take the stance of working it out. Somebody better call Dr. Phil in this bitch, we’re here to WIN, not hold hands and pick daisies. Seriously, I don’t think these situations are above conflict resolution, do whatever you have to to keep your team together. Ignore ESPN’s 24 hour coverage about how your team is doomed and get to the bottom of the issue.

Look – I have grown sick of everything my bengals have done this year, including Chad’s antics. Hes been giving up on routes, dropping balls. Hell, there was one time i counted 4 interceptions in a row because Chad was giving up on the ball.
With that said, and now with the year over, I’ve calmed down. The problem in Cincy remains, as its always been, the defense. The offense continually has to play from behind, and no one can win that way.
If we get a defense, offense can have more fun, Chad can get all his touchdowns, then all of a sudden his antics are just “fun, playful ohco cinco” again.
keep him. get a defense. Go Bengals 08.
S. co-signs the Sportaphile and Nick. You don’t let one of the biggest stars in the league go because your team is playin with some shitty tendencies. It’s not often you find a boisterous WR like Chad that just has antics not off the field problems.
Believe S.O, TJ, Chris, Rudy, and Carson need Ochenta y cinco. Besides where can he go? KC? MIA? GB? Chi? Where?
