Sportaphile Was Right, Sportaphile Was Wrong

I make a lot of bold predictions, statements, and accusations on this site. Some of them turn out to be 100% right (ya know, because I’m a genius), and some of them turn out to be complete BS. I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at my greatest triumphs, and blunders for the months of September and October.

Sportaphile Was Right
September 9th I used plain logic and pointed out something that the vast majority of the mainstream media failed to. It turns out I was 1000% right.
Why is it, when Roger Clemens starts breaking down in his 40s, its because of old age. But when Barry Bonds starts breaking down in his 40s, its because of steroids?
Sportaphile Was Right
September 30th: When Jon Kitna had the world believing they could actually win 10 games.
- The Lions put up 34 points against the Bears in the 4th quarter, I refuse to buy into them regardless, this is DETROIT people… a collapse is imminent.
Sportaphile Was Wrong
September 30th: Norv eventually turned the ship around, but I said:
- The countdown until Norv Turner is fired has officially started.
Sportaphile Was Right
September 21st I knew Ricky Hatton was no match for Floyd, no mater how loud Ricky screamed as he punched a stationary object.
Floyd has been boxing opponents who are naturally bigger and more powerful than he is for the last two years (Oscar De La Hoya, Carlos Baldomir, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah). So I expect him to make light work of Hatton.
Sportaphile Was Right
September 16th: I predicted a wild card spot for Vince Young & Co…
Why do the Tennessee Titans play the Colts so well? The colts can blow out the Eagles 50-0 then score 12 points against the Titans the very next week. I’m looking for Vince and company to get a wildcard spot this year.
Sportaphile Was Wrong
September 9th: Okay, so it turns out Mario Williams would have a great season, but in week one I said:
- lol @ people hoo-rah-ing over Mario Williams having a good game. How about we wait until they face a good team? My dead grandma can sack Damon Huard, big deal.
Sportaphile Was Wrong
September 9th: It turns out both Moss and T.O. behaved very well this season, but I didn’t think it would happen…
Who will melt down first this season? Randy Moss or Terrell Owens? Does anyone think Moss and Belichick will work out?
Sportaphile Was Right
October 17th In my post titled “Why T.O. Is Better Than Randy Moss” I illustrated how Moss doesn’t play well when faced with adversity, and T.O. does. Well, Randy has been dealing with a woman accusing him of battery for the last two weeks. Randy has caught exactly TWO PASSES in two playoff games. He’s been nonexistent…. which was my point all along. He’s not a man you want to take to war, he’s a novelty.
You find out who a man really is when he’s faced with adversity, and Randy didn’t prove to be a soldier. All I can do is smirk now that Moss is quietly nestled under Tom Brady’s teat catching passes all over the place. He’s in a PERFECT situation, nothing will ever go wrong, and he can flourish in football utopia. I’d hate to see what would happen if the Patriots somehow tanked
Sportaphile Was Wrong
October 15th: Probably my most famous screw up…. if you look up you’ll see Tom Brady’s face, nuff said.
Thats how confident I am this is NOT gonna happen. Brady will grace the front page of Sportaphile if his team can win every game this season.
Sportaphile Was Right
October 8th: When Mack Strong retired i knew it was over for Sean Alexander.
I’ve always believed Shaun Alexander was one of the most overrated running backs in the league. Much of the credit Shaun received should have gone to Strong who did the dirty work. With the absence of Strong and his talents, I fully expect Alexander’s production to decline.
Sportaphile Was Wrong
October 8th: I was caught up in Cowboy’s fever I guess….
Sportaphile is officially predicting the Dallas Cowboys will represent the NFC in the super bowl in February.
Mark it on your calendars!
Sportaphile Was Wrong
November 9th: I thought Shane Mosley would kill the overrated Miguel Cotto….. WRONG.
In all four of Mosley’s defeats, he was matched up against bigger fighters who overpowered him and nullified his skills with their physicality. Cotto doesn’t have the size of Vernon Forrest or Winky Wright. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Shane Mosley fight where he was outboxed, so when you couple the fact that Miguel Cotto is not a big fighter, with his questionable defense, this doesn’t look good for him. Heart alone will not defeat Shane, just ask Fernando Vargas.
