So Mark Cuban was just blowin smoke when he said he wasn’t tryin to get Kidd after all? Jason Kidd gets to wear those hideous Mavericks unis one mo’ gin! The problem is that it didn’t bring the Mavs one step closer to being a title contender.
Kidd is not a spring chicken, and he’s not gettin any younger, knowwhatI’msayin? If this trade had happened about 3-4 years ago, it would have been more beneficial for all parties involved. The Nets have resolved to end the Kidd-Carter-Jefferson experiment and have decided to hit reset. The Mavs have to make this move to keep up with the Lakers and Suns.
This move also doesn’t fix Dirk’s heart or lack thereof. Kidd is the basketball version of a straight man, he needs someone to feed off of, ie Mashburn, Jackson, McDyess, Kittles, Marion, Carter. This feels like they did this because other teams are making moves, however, it was basically the same team that lost to the Warriors in the first round so…..something had to give.
Why are teams dealing for past-their-prime-superstars?
