Has Barry Bonds Been Blackballed From Baseball?

When the Giants informed Barry Bonds that they wouldn’t bring him back for the ‘08 season in September, I figured another team would quickly sign him to a contract in the off season. Boy was I wrong.
It’s now February and the MLB season starts in less than two months. Barry Bonds is still without a team, and nobody is showing any real interest in changing that. Despite his age, Bonds had 28 home runs and a .480 on-base percentage in 340 at-bats last season. So you can’t question the value he brings to your team, you also cannot question the amount of extra fans he’ll put in the seats.
Bonds is also facing the federal perjury and obstruction of justice charges, but it can be easily worked into the contract for a team to cut ties with Bonds if his legal troubles prove to be too much. If you’re a bottom-tier major league team, why not take a chance?
Kansas City Royals: 22 years since last playoff appearance
Toronto Blue Jays: 14 years since last playoff appearance
Baltimore Orioles:> 10 years since last playoff appearance
What exactly do they have to lose? Here’s a poll question… if you were GM or owner of an MLB team, would you sign Barry to a 1 year contract? vote below:

Stopping over via TheBigLead. Nice post. Barry Bonds should just quietly slink away into the shadows of evil!
Tampa Bay may be interested!

Yeah I think so…but also a lot of negative pub that most franchises pretty much don’t want. Man I see his starting line up figures discounted like crazy in the mall. Might be done. Sad considering what’s going on with his White and Latino counterparts.
[...] forget about Reggie, in a recent sportaphile poll, you visitors let it be known that you wanted more Kim Kardashian booty pictures. Who am I to deny [...]
Bonds should be playing, period! The real villian for the steriods scandal is Bud Selig; had he not ignored the problem since 1990ish Barry Bonds would have Never done steriods in the first place. Bud Selig was all smiles when Sosa and McQuire were filling the stands with their steroid induced homerun race (yes Selig did know that they were juicing), but when Bonds LATER began using steroids and destroyed the all time homerun record Bud Selig wasn’t smiling anymore.
