Why Are Randy Moss & The Patriots Playing Hardball With Each Other?

During the 2007 season, Randy Moss set the single season record for TD receptions, and Tom Brady set the single season record for TD passes, so why is Randy a free agent right now?
I fully expected New England to franchise tag Moss before free agency started, but in a curiously odd move, they decided NOT to tie him down. While watching ESPN yesterday afternoon, The Cryptkeeper reported that Moss and New England are nowhere close to settling on a new deal. As of yesterday, Randy Moss is openly entertaining contract offers from other teams.
I know what you’re thinking, “isn’t that the point of free agency?”… Well…. no. Unless Randy Moss decides to sign a contract with Dallas, Indianapolis, or Green Bay, theres no better place to potentially get a championship ring than New England. Maybe Randy believes in the Super Bowl losers curse.
You know what this entire situation reminds me of? When two lovers are too stubborn, prideful, or stupid to admit that they need each other. The Pats organization and Moss are officially in a standoff, seeing who will give in to the pressure first.
This is like the scene in Rush Hour… “I no punk bitch”….
