I won’t give a long explanation of what happened, but for those of you who don’t know the details, Cedric Benson was arrested for “boating while intoxicated” this weekend. His story of events vary wildly from his arresting officers who used pepper spray to subdue him. Benson said he was a victim of police brutality.

A female passenger from Benson’s boat stepped forward today claiming she was so concerned about his safety, that she phoned her parents and urged them to call the police on Cedric’s behalf.

“I called my dad and told him, ‘Call 911, my black friend is getting beaten up by police on Lake Travis,’ ” said Elizabeth Cartwright, 22, a friend of Benson’s from the University of Texas. “It’s more what I heard than what I saw. I have never heard or seen Cedric that scared.”

LOL!

My initial reaction is obvious. If you want the police to respond to you immediately, the LAST thing you say is “my black friend is suffering from police brutality”. You have to say something like “I think this poor old white lady is being robbed!!!”. I guarantee the authorities will be there promptly.

My second reaction is, why did she call her parents and ask them to call the police instead of simply calling them herself?
