Beasley or Rose?

That’s the biggest question in the NBA right now. Bigger than who will advance to the NBA Finals. Bigger than who will coach where. Bigger than who will represent the US basketball team in the Olympics.

Should the Chicago Bulls draft the quicksilver point guard or the man beast Beasley? Do they take the fresh faced kid from the Chicago area that will draw fans or the silky lefty forward? The Bulls could use a purely pass-first point guard. In his last game, Rose was incredibly streaky.

Depending on how you view it the Bulls do or do not need a point guard, however, their guards regressed in a major way last season. They also do not have a point guard. Kirk Hinrich is more of an off guard and Ben Gordon is a 2. Chris Duhon is their defensive guy.

Or do they take the lefty, trey shooting forward Beasley? At 6′10″, he can post up yet has the range to hit from long distance. The Bulls do have a bevy of bigs right now in Drew Gooden, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Andres Nocioni, and Tyrus Thomas.

So it would seem the choice has been made for them, right? They have six bigs and they need a point guard who can distribute. Do they draft for need or take the game changer? Beasley is looking like the game changer. Or do they deal the pick? That last option seems the least likely.

So what do they do once Derrick Rose is in Bulls’ red? Now they have some guards who are tradeable. Capt. Kirk and Duhon are the most likely to be moved. Does acquiring Rose move the Bulls into Eastern Conference contention? That’s the ultimate question, but no one will know til tip off.
