This incident is incredibly bizarre.

The relatives of the U.S. indoor volleyball team coach were attacked shortly after the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Hugh McCutcheon’s father in law Todd Bachman, his wife Barbara, their daughter Elisabeth Bachman-McCutcheon, and their chinese tour guide were all injured in the attack. Todd Bachman didnt survive the attack, Barbara is in critical condition, and the assailant jumped off of a tower and killed himself.

This is really weird because Beijing isn’t known as place where completely random acts of violence take place. The victims were not wearing anything that would have indicated they were related to someone participating in the Olympic games, so that makes the situation even more puzzling.

I really hope this is the last instance of violence we’ll hear about in Beijing but sadly…. I have a feeling there will be more. Theres just a really odd feeling associated with the Beijing Games. Does anyone else feel it?
