Another NFL Sunday has come and gone. Let’s see if our resident experts know what they are talking about when it comes to gridiron action:

Carolina-24 vs Atlanta-9
Chuck: Yeah this one is was pretty easy to call, although Atlanta may be able to pop up and shock some teams…. they still aren’t ready to battle with established veteran squads. Win.
Risse: No big surprises in this one. Well, maybe seeing Muhsin Muhammad (Moose!) get 8 receptions, 147 yards with a TD this week. (Win)

Tennessee-30 vs Minnesota-17
Chuck: Tennessee’s defense is too stubborn for just about anybody right now. I said they would put 8 in the box and stop purple jesus and thats exactly what they did. If you have succcess against this team I think it will be by air… not by ground. win
Risse: Let me find out that the Titans are 4-0. I know my peeps in Cashville are feeling themselves. Albert Haynesworth looked like a straight bruiser against Peterson and the Vikings. If the Titans go deep in the playoffs, please mark my words: Vince Young will no longer be a Titan by the end of next season. (Win)

Jacksonville-30 vs Houston-27 (OT)
Chuck: Aahahaha….. I knew Houston would lose… Jacksonville is playing with a little bit of urgency, but the main reason they were going to win is because the Texans suck. Always have and always will. win
Risse: Even though I picked the Jags, my Texans almost did it. But when you are going up against the Jags at home, featuring Josh Scobee’s cannon-like leg, almost doesn’t make the cut. Just ask the Colts. There were definite rays of light in this loss, though, as Schaub momentarily muted the haters by passing for 307 yards. (Win) Read the rest of this entry »

The undercard matchip between Andre Berto & Steve Forbes is set to begin round 8, the way things are going it could possibly go the distance. That would push the start of Mayorga vs. Mosley to nearly 8:45. Stay tuned and refresh this page for updates.
Round – 1 Ricardo comes out firing as usual, although hes still wild he’s conserving himself much more than we’re used to. Shane is mostly o n the defensive…waiting out a spot. The way Shane is responding it seems as if Ricardo may have gotten under his skin. Mayorga has connected with some pretty good punches late in the round. Shane wasnt terribly fazed but it got his attention.
Mayorga’s round
LOL.. between rounds Shanes dad says “Mayorga’s gonna get tired doing all that crazy shit”
Round – 2 The first half off the round is pretty subdued… Shane is extremely reserved and he’s taking his dads advice of waiting for Mayorga to get tired. Nobody has clearly won the round with 30 seconds left…. Mayorga charges in with wild shots.. most of them missed but he landed a good uppercut.
Mayorgas round (but it could have gone either way, nobody really landed much)

Pictures don’t lie.
Golden State Warriors’ fans wish they could cover their faces today at the discovery of the real reason PG Monta Ellis will be out with an ankle injury when the season tips off. Come to find out Monta got hurt while riding a moped in Mississippi. It’s no wonder he lied. How bitchy does it look to get hurt riding a moped?
*please insert Allen Iverson voice now* Monta, a moped? A moped? We talking about a moped. Not even a motorcycle, but a moped?
Memo to Chris Mullin: We in the ‘Town love Monta. We really do, but did you really just give the biggest pay raise in NBA history to a man who will be out AT LEAST three months because he got injured while ghost riding his moped? This is the counter you came with for not wanting to give Baron Davis a respectable offer?
Get ready. It’s going to be a long ass season at the Oracle.

Carolina vs Atlanta
Chuck: Although Michael Turner is looking great this season, I’m still not sold on Matt Ryan. Carolina has home field advantage and a strong defensive line that can give the rookie trouble, therefore I’m rolling with the Panthers.
Risse: Michael Turner is out there giving defenses the business. Carolina will definitely be strong at home coming off a loss last week, so I see them coming out pretty motivated. Panthers at home.

Tennessee vs Minnesota
Chuck: The Titans are boasting the best defense in the NFL through the first three weeks, if you don’t know the name Cortland Finnegan… you will by the end of the season. Gus Frerotte isn’t exactly a top flight QB so I’m expecting the Titans to give him hell. Albert Haynesworth and the gang are gonna put 8 in the box to deal with Purple Jesus. Titans win.
Risse: The Titans defense is definitely punishing opponents and this week should be no different. Frerotte is no longer worth the energy it takes to diss him. I am interested in the running back battle: Chris Johnson vs. A.P. Who will have a bigger impact? The Titans will be 4-0 when its over.

Jacksonville vs Houston
Chuck: I’ve already told you guys what I think of Matt Schuab, and the Jags are making up for lost time since they dropped games 1 and 2. Jacksonville wins.
Risse: This is the fourth of five early-season match ups that are pure hell on the Texans 2008 schedule. The Jags are feeling themselves after serving Indy last week so I think Jacksonville wins at home. (But this is a rare occasion where I WANT to be wrong. Go Texans!) Read the rest of this entry »
