The wait is finally over. And for a man who hasn’t played competitively since being the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Greg Oden had a solid NBA preseason debut. His stats (13 points, 5 rebounds) were fairly good considering he only played 20 minutes. But, really, in watching the highlights, it is clear: if Greg Oden can stay healthy, the Portland Trail Blazers will do a lot of damage in the West this year. They are my darkhorse and will definitely be in the playoffs.

Sorry Beasley, Greg Oden is Sportaphile’s favorite as Rookie of the Year. He is just that much of a physical beast. Punks in the paint have been warned.

(*Yes, he is still eligible for R.O.Y. since he didn’t play at all last year due to injury. Duh!)
