Goodbye Houston Comets, We Hardly Knew Ye

December 2nd, 2008 . by Dell

Did I say hardly? I meant we didn’t know ye…. because nobody really watches WNBA basketball.

The Houston Comets are disbanding due to the fact that this franchise doesn’t have an owner. The league took over control of the team earlier this year from Hilton Koch (for reasons I do not know), and they’ve been unsuccessful in finding someone else to purchase it.

“”You have to build on strength,” WNBA president Donna Orender told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “My outlook is to build on the fact that the league has great momentum and in Houston we didn’t have the enough runway to get a deal done in time for the 2009 season. So right now we have to move on.”

The WNBA will officially announce the move on Tuesday, which will result in the loss of 37 jobs.”

The way our economy is going right now, you’d be a fool to spend your hard earned $299.98 dollars to buy a women’s basketball team. Such money could easily be spent on a new PS3…. which provides much more entertainment.
