It’s Official: Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton – May 2nd!!

January 6th, 2009 . by Dell

pacquiao-vs-hattonFresh off his destruction of Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao will be stepping into the ring against Ricky Hatton on May 2nd. Being that the rest of the welterweight class is too big for Manny, Ricky was the best opponent available at a lower class and will present an exciting fight. Ricky is all offense, which meshes well with Pacquiao’s exciting style.

If Manny manages to win this fight, it sets up the fight of the century with Floyd Mayweather this fall. Floyd hasn’t been seen partying in Las Vegas for months, so maybe he’s getting his mind right for a potential return to the ring…. lets hope so.

Video: Lil Wayne vs. Skip Bayless

January 6th, 2009 . by Dell

I must say….. the ESPN producers must have asked Skip Bayless to take it easy on Wayne, because he’s on the best behavior I’ve ever seen him thusfar. Wayne isn’t completely embarrassing himself, he’s tripped up here and there on a few parts but overall he can hold his own. Both of these guys seem really subdued compared to their usual selves so the results are kinda disappointing.

Boooooooooo… I wanted Wayne to stumble onto the set with a styrophone cup in his hand while quoting Shakespear. Skip kisses Wayne’s ass for a while, and even helps him out when he stumbles (the part about the Titans).

An Utterly Shocking Reminder That We Are In A Recession

January 5th, 2009 . by Dell

Listening to guys in suits on TV talk about how bad the U.S. is doing is one thing, but sometimes the bad news has to be put in perspective before we can truly understand the damage that’s being done.

According to Branden Powers, a partner and director of marketing at Poetry nightclub in Las Vegas, celebrities are scaling back their visits and being a little more frugal with their cash:

“In recent years, clubgoers could count on celebrities to show up and “make it rain,” a popular craze that involved large amounts of cash being tossed in the air.

That wasn’t the case at a number of clubs on New Year’s Eve, including Poetry.

“We had sporadic showers,” said Powers. “It was only a drizzle. It wasn’t at all like the hundreds of thousands of dollars we’ve seen in the past.”

No one “made it rain” more than boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, who showed up at Poetry and other popular clubs on the Strip almost every week with stacks of cash, $10,000 to $20,000, that he would toss into the crowd.

But Mayweather has apparently cut back. It’s been months since a club reported a Mayweather money toss.

Wow.

What has the world come to when Floyd Mayweather stops throwing tens of thousands of dollars at strangers like a complete moron? This is not the America I know. Hopefully Floyd is thinking about money so much that he comes out of retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao next fall.

I Wish I Would Pay $50 Bucks To Surf Kobe Bryant’s Website

January 5th, 2009 . by Dell

Are you a Kobe Bryant fan?
Are you a big enough Kobe fan to pay 50 dollars to join his website?

The “news” section on Kobe’s website is completely free, but if you want to see much more than that you’re going to have to dig in your pockets and break bread. I really want to know who’s idea it was to charge this much money for an experience that really isn’t terribly exclusive. There’s absolutely nothing on that list of perks that justifies a $50 dollar fee aside from a “meet & greet” with Kobe, but you have to consider where/when these will actually take place.

With the way our contry’s economy is right now, I think it’s pretty wack for someone making as much money as Kobe Bryant to charge fans for BS like this.
