He used to deny this constantly, but tonight he finally confirmed that he was always the last guy in the building and the first guy to leave, and he didn’t spend much time studying and working on technique.

So if Michael Vick made it to the NFC Championship game, 3 or 4 Pro Bowls, and rushed for 1,000 yards in his last season based on raw talent alone, can you imagine how good he’s going to be if he actually dedicates himself to the sport now? It’s almost sickening when you really think about how much untapped potential there is when it comes to Vick as a player, knowing the most exciting quarterback in the game was only giving 50% of what he was capable of.

There are a good number of fans who always say “He’s a running back with an arm, he should just play that position, or maybe he can convert to a wide receiver.” That quote is usually followed by them saying he has a 55% completion rating and a 75% quarterback rating. I’ve always thought those stats were a little misleading in the case of Michael Vick because he didn’t play like a traditional QB. A quarterback rating on a “normal” player usually gives you a pretty good picture of how they contribute to the team, but in Vick’s case it doesn’t account for the ton of rushing yards (and rushing TDs) that Vick gives the team.

When you think about guys like Peyton Manning who are legendary for studying and putting in countless hours of preparation, what kind of success could Vick have if he committed to the same habits? I don’t think guys like Manning or Brady have half the athletic talent that Vick does but they’ve always been better football players, so the next few years will be really interesting to see if he’s serious about turning things around.

It’s a BIG if…. but it’s something to get excited about if you’re a football fan.

At the end of the day, I’m weary that crap like this is going to ruin the upcoming NFL season because everyone wants to use Vick as a platform to spew trash about their cause. In just a few hours on Twitter, I witnessed the Vick scandal used for stances on abortion, human rights, animal rights, racism, gun control, child abuse…. you name it.

I dont necessarily think the tweeter below meant anything derogatory with her comment, but it’s kind of offensive when you say you “wish all black people could be like the Huxtables”.

Terrell may be arrogant, but he’s not stupid. He knows if he would have done what most sane people would have done and said “bitch…. who do you think you’re talking to?” followed by an equal dose of what she gave him… it would be World War III in the media. America is a very forgiving country, but I’m not sure a hulking black man can destroy a white girl on TV and escape with his life just yet.

Terrell was raised in the south by his grandmother (who I can only assume was a young woman during the civil rights movement) and I’m sure she told him the story of Emmitt Till every night over dinner like it was Dr. Suess. She had the huge wooden spoon and fork on the walls and everything, that kind of ambiance makes it stick with you forever.

I’m not sure why, but earlier this year when Brandon Marshall announced he had turned a new leaf and wanted to be more like Peyton Manning i actually believed the guy. This was after his arrest, suspension, and mysterious injury in which he “slipped on a McDonalds bag” and suffered a gash on his arm. I figured those incidents helped him come to the conclusion that he really needed to get things under control and become a model citizen.

BUT….

Since then he’s been arrested for disorderly conduct, had hip surgery, and is now demanding that the Broncos trade him because he wants more money.

It’s almost as if NFL owners are falling all over themselves to give a large contract to an injury prone knucklehead who can’t go a full season without getting arrested. I know this kid can ball, and he’s proved that over the last couple of seasons…. but logic tells me you don’t demand a new contract 2 months after an arrest and hip surgery.

I almost hope Denver takes a page out of Cincinnati’s book and refuses to trade him. He’ll try to hold out and then be on the field by week 2, and arrested again by New Years.

You’re out of jail now, please don’t be a fucking moron and get into trouble again like Pacman Jones. There are plenty of fans and football enthusiasts like myself who have argued in your defense countless times during the last 2 years and we would prefer if you didn’t put egg on our faces. If I wake up one morning and see a headline like “Vick Violates Probation” or “Vick caught with 12 pounds of marijuana in trunk”, I’m going to LOSE IT.

I seriously doubt Delhomme would have gotten a rich contract like this if the Panthers let his deal expire and he decided to test the waters with another team. Unless Jake turns in a huge season this year or next, I’m pretty sure Carolina is going to cut him before he gets into the later years of this deal, but they still have to eat that $20 million at the end of the day.

The segment starts with Travis Henry, who is infamous for having nine children with nine different women. What makes the story even more interesting is the fact that Henry is no longer in the NFL, has been indicted for trafficking drugs, and has no money to keep up with $17,000 per month in child support. To make matters worse a woman named Vanessa Colbert says Henry is the father of her twin girls… which makes 11 children for him.

Later in the segment ESPN spoke to the mothers of Dwight Howard and Jason Caffey’s children. The absolute saddest moment of the entire thing, was Jason Caffey’s 15 year old son who has only met his dad once. He keeps a basketball card of his father in his wallet….

It’s incredibly irresponsible for athletes to around having unprotected sex with various females, and I’m sure not all of the women who end up pregnant were trying to “trap” the athletes. However, the chicks who deliberately get pregnant because they think it’s a meal ticket are beyond pathetic. I’ve seen posts on Baller Alert where women ask advice on how to get knocked up by athletes, bitches like that need a trip to the pysch ward…. seriously.
