I was a huge wrestling fan growing up (the Monday Night Wars in the late 90s were the most exciting television ever), so this was pretty fun to watch. “The People’s Elbow” at the end had me dying laughing.

WWE grossed more than $5.85 million in ticket sales, making it the highest grossing live event in WWE history and in the history of the Citrus Bowl. WWE set an attendance record for the Citrus Bowl with 74,635 fans

The attendance was a huge success, but I wonder how the Pay Per View buys will look. Will it be higher than Floyd vs. Hatton? What about Oscar vs. Floyd? We’ll see this week.

I love how they’re all sitting there talking about this fight like it’s not predetermined. Of course theres a very legitimate chance that Floyd can be accidentally injured, but it’s going to be avoided at all costs if possible. At one point of the interview Floyd insists that his fight with The Big Show is real and won’t be scripted at all.

[Hollywood Offender]

Despite getting the smackdown (no pun intended) from the United States government, the NFL, and being hated by the general public, Vince has managed to keep his empire in tact. I don’t know who dies faster, Phillip Morris’ customers or the WWE’s performers.

He may even deserve a Hollywood star based on the fact that he’s received about 8 million Stone Cold Stunners since 1997. Here’s a fan video of Vince’s ceremony.

A muscle bound guy known for threatening physical violence, and may possibly be on steroids will be at Wrestlemania this year. Oh ok…. so how is this different again?

With all the drama and beef 50 Cent is involved in, he’ll fit right into the WWE just fine. Now he can stop pretending he’ll actually beat up The Game and Fat Joe, and start pretending he’ll actually help Floyd beat up The Big Show. As much as he and Floyd love running their mouth, the next few weeks should be seriously entertaining.

One trick Mayweather may have up the sleeve of his robe is getting 50 Cent to accompany him to the ring. The boxer came out to the sound of 50′s “I Get Money” during a verbal confrontation with the Big Show two weeks ago. On Friday, when the rapper was hosting New York radio station Power 105.1, Mayweather asked his friend for a favor.

“I’d like for you to bring me out [at 'Wrestlemania'],” he said.

“I’m coming. I’m coming,” 50 answered.

Vince McMahon’s eyes probably literally turned into dollar signs upon hearing the news.

I may not be much of a wrestling fan anymore, but I gotta pay respects upon hearing the news of Ric Flair retiring. I remember watching him hide under the ring in the 1992 Royal Rumble before winning it all, I hadn’t even reached my 10th birthday yet, but Ric was at least 87 years old at the moment. Seeing someone who is so old, flabby, and decrepit and still remain so damned entertaining is brilliant. Not to mention the life expectancy of wrestlers is like 40 years old.

Without Ric Flair, I wouldn’t be able to grab someone, slap them as hard as I can across the chest and scream “WOOOOOOOOOOOO” without being arrested.

Is this the year that all the all the old bastards finally move on to greener pastures? We know Brett Favre is considering retirement, but here are a few folks we wouldn’t mind seeing take a hike as well.

1. Dick Vitale - I was going to say that Dick Vitale’s best contribution to the world of sports was his voice overs for NBA Jam, but I researched it and it was just a guy who sounds like Dick Vitale. So basically Dicky V. is useless… hang it up buddy.

2. Pat Summerall - Pat is like…. in the Al Davis territory of old. When I watch (or listen) to him do play by play for NFL games, I worry that he’s literally going to pass away in the 2nd quarter. I actually like Pat Summerall, but how frightening would it be for someone to kick the bucket on air?

3. Evander Holyfield – I know Evander has been in the news lately, for his potential fight with Mike Tyson, but he really just needs to hit the golf course. Getting punched in the face for a living is NOT something you should do for 20 years straight. I know Evander feels like he can’t retire, because he has like eight kids or something… but at this rate he won’t be alive to see his grandkids.

Floyd Mayweather will take home $20 million dollars for taking on The Big Show at Wrestlemania this year. Floyd fits into this atmosphere like a fish to water, he’s insanely arrogant, he has a big mouth, and he loves to interact with fans.

Floyd Mayweather is 5’8 and weighs 147 pounds, Big show is 7 feet and weighs 430 pounds, let’s just all rejoice in the fact that this fight is staged. If it weren’t Floyd would probably be in 3 pieces by the end of the night. Big show had to get on his knees in order for Mayweather to break his nose last week.

I love how Floyd quotes John Amos from Coming To America at the end of the video, “When I say the boy got his own money, that boy gots his own moneyyyy”
