Video: Snoop Dogg On ESPN’s “Around The Horn”

Snoop Dogg stopped by in a guest appearance on ESPN’s “Around The Horn” with J.A. Adande this afternoon. Snoop weighed in on LeBron James possibly leaving Cleveland to go play for Jay-Z’s soon-to-be-Brooklyn Nets and encouraged the move. Woody Paige offered a spirited rebuttal and said Snoop should leave the show (jokingly)…. Snoop laughed and then left.

It was a brief encounter, but it also showed how much BETTER this show would be if they mixed in personalities other than Jay Mariotti and Woody Paige. Check the video….

Shaq Is Now On Twitter (for real)

There’s no doubt that Shaq is the funniest, most entertaining athlete to listen to since Muhammad Ali. So I was very excited this morning when I learned that Shaquille O’Neal is now using twitter, and it’s just a matter of time before something funny pops up.

Mark Cuban: The Owner They Love to Hate?

Here are the facts: Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and overall rabble-rouser, is being charged with insider trading by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

For all of you broke asses, that means that he is being accused of the same crime that had the almighty Martha Stewart making grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron behind bars in 2005.

Just like the Queen of Domesticity, Mark Cuban’s paper is far from short. But the real difference is that, really, Cuban is like the rapper Bonecrusher: this dude is never ever scared, especially when it comes to outlandishly cheering for his team or speaking his mind at every possible turn. He is the prototype that peeps like Bud ‘Dr. Evil’ Selig, David Stern, and Sportaphile’s favorite hypocrite, Roger Goodell, love to hate.

Ever wonder why the Chicago Cubs are still up for sale? Mark Cuban’s abilities to piss off the establishment is a good answer [for starters].

As for the pending charges, I just hope TruTV’s Nancy Grace is on the case because she keeps it 100% hood and will let us know what’s good with $ir Marky Cubes. Say word!

In my opinion, the question isn’t whether Cuban did what he’s accused of doing. It’s whether or not the government will let him off their hook. And in the words of the late, great 2Pac, Cuban is doing a great job of diverting attention away in the classic ‘Only God Can Judge Me’ steez.

Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao are gearing up to fight on December 6th in what will be one of the biggest fights (moneywise) in history. DLH is the most popular boxer in the world, and Pacquiao isn’t that far behind. The most intriguing aspect is the size difference, Pac is moving up several weight classes to meet DLH, and many think he’s just too small to make a dent in Oscar.

One of the oddest things about this episode is the (possible?) tension between Manny Pacquiao and his wife. That particular scene only lasts for a couple of seconds, so when you watch this episode feel free to let me know if I was just imagining it myself. It really seems like Manny didn’t want her to be there. (you can see this in the second video below).

I Can’t Stop Staring At Jerome Bettis’ Fake Hair Line

Every Sunday afternoon, I watch NBC’s Football Night In America and I’m hopelessly distracted by Jerome Bettis’ hairline. Upon first glance, it appears as if he has a razor sharp line-up of Steve Harvey proportions…. but when you examine it a little closer you’ll see it’s actually painted (or sprayed) on.

It’s weird to see because Jerome has always seemed like a “man’s man” who could care less about the fact he could be going bald….. So this stencil hairline thing seems crazy metrosexual when it comes to him. I’ll also accept my fair share of blame for:

A. Noticing this
B. Writing a post about it.

But Hey, I wasn’t the only one.. Washington Redskins fans know whats up.

Why Was Tatum Bell Working In A Cell Phone Store 2 Weeks Ago?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Tatum, here’s a quick and dirty rundown. The Detroit Lions fired Tatum because they signed Rudi Johnson, so as an act of revenge (or desperation), Tatum decides to steal Rudi’s bags on his way out of the building. Tatum first tried to play it off as a practical joke, but security cameras and other people he tried to involve debunked his story. Therefore this left Tatum without a job and teams who may have been interested steered clear because he was now known as a locker room thief.

These circumstances led Tatum to pursue a new line of employment….. working as the manger of a cell phone store.

“”I had a job at the mall, man, just supporting my family, doing what I could do,” Bell said, adding the experience helped him become a better man. “I think it helped me mature and respect the real world. Now, I’ve really got a lot more respect for people that work 9-to-5.”

I know some of you may think Tatum did this to keep himself busy or stay grounded…. but the part of his quote that mentions “supporting my family’” makes me think he actually needed the money.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with earning a living in retail, but if you’ve been playing professional football for three and a half years you should have a little money to hold you over right? Was he so broke that he IMMEDIATELY needed to start filling out apps at the mall? I know rookie contracts can be small but jesus h. christ.

It’s scary how many of these guys make hundreds of thousands (and sometimes millions) of dollars, yet they are so close to poverty due to mismanagement. You may have just signed a $10 million dollar contract but you’re just 3 steps from working at Kinkos.

FYI… Tatum just signed a new 1 year/600,000 contract with Denver…. let’s hope things work out okay for him. 600k has to be like …… 20 years worth of Verizon Wireless kiosk pay right?

UFC Teams Up w/ 50 Cent For Musical Boost

Ultimate Fighting Championship and 50 Cent have sparked up a little partnership that allows them to use 50’s music in their programming, and in return 50 gets promotion for his new (soon-to-be-failed) album. 50’s fourth major release “Before I Self Destruct” was originally slated for a December 9th release, until they realized no one cared. The album is now being released at the top of 2009.

In the first video below, you’ll see a teaser for Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture (taking place tomorrow night) featuring 50’s new single “Get Up”. Then video at the very bottom of this post shows a meeting between 50 Cent and UFC Prez Dana White.
