Video: The Boston Celtics Championship Ring Ceremony

October 28th, 2008 . by Dell

Risse was supposed to post this video (because I hate the Celtics) but since shes busy I guess I’ll do the honors….

Crying ass Paul Pierce provided my sole nugget of entertainment… It happened 4 and a half months ago… get over it.

In this video, Craig Sager gives an up close look at the ring with Scott Pollard. I tried to admire the ring, but I got distracted by Sager’s weird, mangled, crusty fingernail. Seriously…. look at that thing. They can sell replcas for Halloween and make a killing. You guys are lucky because you can’t see it as clearly as I could on a big television.

NBA Basketball: The 2008-09 No Bitchassness Allowed Report

September 29th, 2008 . by Risse aka TownBiz

NBA training camps have officially gotten underway, and my body is slowly stabilizing itself from the withdrawals it annually experiences when the NBA Finals conclude in June. My fellow junkies in hoop got a little reprieve while keeping up with the Redeem Team capturing the gold in Beijing. But it just ain’t the same as the phenomenon of NBA action. Plus, I don’t get to write my No Bitchassness Allowed reports. So for the next few days, Sportaphile’s NBA report will be giving our in-depth analysis of each team, by division. Consider this the training camp edition.

Today we look at teams in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic division. (Last year’s record)

(66-16). Never say never. I never in 1,000 years could have imagined myself rooting for the Boston Celtics. But this past spring, if loving them was wrong, I sure as hell wanted to be charged with the crime. I have a love for KG and won’t take the space to go on about the glory of the 2008 NBA FInals. Going into this season it’s the champs who hold the top spot (even without my guy James Posey) until a team is bold enough to beat them down and take it. That is no easy task, so as of right now, I have the Celtics in the Finals until further notice. My Finals pick will be posted on Opening Night of the NBA season.

(34-48) The Nets drew the line in the sand this summer and traded Richard Jefferson. In exchange, they got Yi Jianlian, who will undoubtedly expand the team’s marketing reach in China, but will not have that same impact where it counts–on the court. I do believe that the Nets scored a keeper in Chris Douglas-Roberts, though, who will be playing with a certified chip on his shoulder after being dissed in this year’s draft. CDR and Devin Harris should really push the rock once they get in sync but it’s truly shit or get off the pot time for Vince Carter in New Jersey as far as I’m concerned. Overall, the Nets aren’t making any noise this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Glen Davis Does Not Look Gay In This Picture

June 18th, 2008 . by Dell

Just like Kevin Garnett didn’t look sissyfied crying during his interview with Michelle Tafoya.

…..ok I’m lying. These guys must be REALLY comfortable with their sexuality, because they’re breaking all kinds of records for suspect behavior. The Celtics hater in me just won’t let these kinds of things go, I have to soothe the pain of the Lakers choking somehow.

<---- Here's an inside look at what the Celtics private celebration party looked like.

I wanted the lakers to win, so what. I’m salty, I’m bitter.

His “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!” scream reeked of a made for TV movie. I ain’t buyin it homie. Then he proceeds to give a shout out to everyone from Abraham Lincoln to Pookie from the corner store. Blah.

Michael Jordan and Shaq Breathe A Sigh Of Relief….

June 17th, 2008 . by Dell

It’ll never be admitted or acknowledged, but I know Shaquille O’neal and Michael Jordan smiled as the Boston Celtics hoisted their championship trophy last night.

Kobe Bryant has been flirting with that “possible greatest ever” title for many years now, but with a team mate like Shaq it was hard to be recognized as an individual. Kobe could never be truly compared to Jordan with a dominating beast like Shaq helping him out…. it was too easy. So the Lakers shipped O’neal away, and Kobe began his journey to a 4th championship.

This mythical fourth championship means A LOT to Kobe’s legacy, especially since Shaq earned another just two years after departing from the Lakers. If Bryant were to go the rest of his career without winning at least two more, he could never be mentioned in the same breath as M.J. Similarly, if he fails to win at least one more, Shaq will always be viewed as the main reason L.A. had a dynasty in the early 2000s.

Last night, The Boston Celtics gave MJ and Shaq the gift of peaceful sleep…at least for another 12 months.
