Racists? IN NASCAR??? Say It Ain’t So!!!!

Mauricia Grant, a 32 year old black woman is filing a $225 million dollar lawsuit against NASCAR for racial and sexual discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

My initial reaction upon learning about this suit was utter shock. Not because of the racism and harassment, but because there was actual a black woman working for NASCAR. Could we possibly find a bigger mismatch?

Anywho, Grant’s complaints fall in line with everything you imagined a black person surrounded by rednecks would endure.

In the lawsuit, she alleged she was referred to as “Nappy Headed Mo” and “Queen Sheba” by co-workers, was often told she worked on “colored people time” and was frightened by one official who routinely made references to the Ku Klux Klan.

In addition, Grant said she was subjected to sexual advances from male co-workers, two of whom allegedly exposed themselves to her, and graphic and lewd jokes.

There are a few other disgusting incidents in the report (worse than what you read above), you can head over to ESPN to read the article here.

I could say things like, “well I’m never supporting NASCAR for as long as I live”, or “I’m never watching another broadcast”, or “NASCAR will never be written about on Sportaphile again’… but all those things were true before this lawsuit came about in the first place. Watching men drive in a circle for 3 hours isn’t remotely entertaining to me.

I remember when Jay-Z put Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Danica Patrick in his music video for “Show Me What You Got” in some attempt at cross promotion. I have never been less interested in a Jay-Z video in my life.
