Lil Wayne To Debate Skip Bayless On ESPN’s “First Take”

December 31st, 2008 . by Dell

This will not end well.

Weezy will be appearing on ESPN the morning of January 6th for a mini debate with Skip Bayless. Those that are familiar with Lil Wayne knows that he’s liable to say anything (and the odds of you actually understanding what he’s talking about is a 50/50 crapshoot). Weezy writes a blog for ESPN.com and this will be his first foray into actually proving analysis on the air.

Much like Lil Wayne, Skip Bayless is also liable to say anything (and it’s usually something crazy for shock value)…. so the odds of their “Debate” being highly entertaining are great… I’m not missing this for the world.

Who remembers the time Skip said Eminem was underrated, yet was unable to name 5 other rappers?

If Only The Chicago Bears Had Listened To Bill Walsh…

December 28th, 2008 . by Dell

walsh_billLike the title of this blog suggests, I spend an insane amount of time watching, listening to, talking about, and reading about sports. However, only 15-20% of whats in my head actually makes it here to the site for various reasons (i.e. laziness), but this is a random nugget that I felt compelled to share.

I watch “NFL Matchup” on ESPN alot, and my eyes are always drawn to Merrill Hoge’s hair… because it looks really weird like he’s wearing a hairpiece. So I head over to google and I take a shot in the dark on Merrill Hoge’s hair and I get a few results. Yes, there are other people in the world who talk about and laugh at Merrill Hoge’s toupee.

But during that search I found something else, a review of the 2003 NFL Draft. The author of this particular article thought Rex Grossman was a fine choice for Chicago, and refuted the claims that Rex would turn out to be a bust for the Bears.

The biggest knock on Grossman was that he likes to party (who doesn’t?) and that Bill Walsh said in a Sports Illustrated article that he makes “catastrophic mistakes”. This, from the man who just hired Dennis “Mr. Catastrophic Mistake” Erickson to be the Niners head coach.

The defense rests.”

Oh boy oh boy… .was Bill Walsh right or WHAT? Rex Grossman singlehandedly lost the Super Bowl for Chicago a few years ago by committing several “catastrophic mistakes” in the biggest game of his career. If the GM in Chicago had only agreed with Walsh (who is considered one of the greatest football minds ever)…. history may have turned out differently.

Congrats ESPN, The Tail Is Wagging The Dog In Dallas

December 13th, 2008 . by Dell

The Star Telegram is reporting that Terrell Owens and Jason Witten were involved in an altercation during a team meeting on Friday.

The subject of the meeting?

How to ignore the various reports coming out of the media and prevent distractions from the task at hand. ESPN’s Ed Werder has successfully created a story based on “anonymous sources”, and relied on the dysfunctional locker room to actually bring it to life. Brilliant.

This is comparable to you or me finding a married couple with a troubled relationship and whispering “ya know, someone told me that your wife might be doing something on the side”, and then watching the ensuing argument unfold before your eyes. I’m not the only person who believes that the majority of this “controversy” is media created, check out this video of a Dallas fan going off on Ed Werder.

For those of you who aren’t in the know, Terrell Owens doesn’t like Ed Werder, and hasn’t been speaking to him all season. So at the end of the season Ed was the one who breaks this story of T.O. having a meeting with Jason Garrett based on anonymous sources.

We Should All Be Praying Dallas Wins This Sunday

December 11th, 2008 . by Dell

I realize that the Dallas Cowboys are a polarizing team in the NFL, and for every fan that loves them, there are three fans that hate their guts. But when it comes to this Sunday’s matchup vs. the New York Giants, we should all get behind Romo & the gang and hope for a win.

Why?

Because if Dallas loses this game, ESPN is going to launch a full scale assault with “Terrell Owens vs. The Team” bullcrap and we’re going to have to hear about it for the next three months. Even if you dislike the Cowboys, surely you will eventually grow tired of hearing every analyst on the network beat a dead horse for months on end, right?

It seems as if the ONLY way this team doesn’t completely implode in the offseason is if they at least go to the SuperBowl, but for now… I just want to get through the season.

Si Se Puede!
Yes we can!
