Some things just have “disaster” written all over them from the start…..and this is one of those things.
Darryl McDaniels (widely known as DMC) from the legendary hip hop trio Run DMC told The Boston Daily that David Ortiz will be collaborating on a project with him.
“Me and Papi is doing a record. It’s gonna be crazy.
The Harlem native told the hosts that he’s spent a lot of time with the Sox slugger, and that Ortiz’s favorite Run-D.M.C. song is “It’s Tricky.”
I have three pet peeves with this entire situation.
2. If I wanted to listen to a rapper who could barely speak english, I would would listen to Mike Jones, not David Ortiz.
3. I have a huge problem with grown men calling another grown man “Big Papi”…thats NOT hip hop. In fact, it qualifies for the infamous “No Homo” disclaimer. The only rapper who has successfully gotten away with calling a man “daddy” is Lil Wayne.
It wasn’t that long ago that black men weren’t even allowed to play alongside whites, let alone own a piece of the most prestigious franchise in the MLB. Jay-Z is looking to become a minority owner in the New York Yankees, according to Time Out Magazine.
He’s already part owner of the New Jersey Nets, and almost bought into London-based soccer team Arsenal Football Club in 2005 before the deal fell through.
“I had invested in the Nets, and they (Arsenal bosses) asked me if I was interested in investing. But I get that from time to time,” Jay told London’s Time Out magazine. “Someone told me yesterday that someone else had a piece of the New York Yankees, ‘We wanna talk to you, yadda yadda yadda.’ I mean, I love the Yankees so I’m in the middle of following that through, but sometimes it comes to be nothing. That (Arsenal) was one of the times it came to nothing.”
All this will be worth if it I can just see George Steinbrenner through up the ROC diamond at a Yankees game…. .seriously.
Everyone knows Snoop Dogg is a huge fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, he may not be attending as many games as Jack Nicholson but he reps the purple big time (in more ways than one).
Snoop includes names of just about all of the Lakers in the song, complete with shout outs to the late Chick Hearn. There’s even a little jab at the end about Shaquille O’Neal sitting at home on his couch while the lakers are still in contention. Somehow I wish Shaq was still playing, otherwise I may not have had to post that video of him mooning the camera. I’m still having nightmares.
