Ex NBA referee Tim Donaghy is accusing the NBA of fixing two separate playoff games within the last six years. This is an absolute bombshell that threatens the NBA’s very existence as a respected sports organization.
NBA commissioner David Stern says Tim Donaghy is an admitted felon trying to say whatever he can to lighten his jail sentence, a statement that could very well be true. However, we also have to be mindful that it’s David Sterns job to protect the NBA at all costs, even if he has to lie, cheat and discredit someone who may be telling the truth.
The saddest thing about this, is that Donaghy claims NBA officials fixed game 6 of the 2002 western conference finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. If you’re a regular reader of this blog you may remember this post I wrote about that game. I consider it one of the best playoff games I’ve ever seen (if not THE best), so it really sucks to have the entire contest be pulled into question.
Immediately following that game, tons of people questioned the refs for their decision making but it was forgotten. Donaghy’s accusations immediately gave those arguments merit.
What do you think about this entire ordeal?

One half of my diabolic wish is complete. I dug my heels in the sand and proclaimed I would boycott the NBA finals unless the Lakers and Celtics advanced into the final round.
San Antonio got sent packing last night, which leaves the fate of humanity up to Boston.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, theres been lots of drama regarding The Dirty.com and their claims that Kobe Bryant is cheating on his wife (again) with a Laker Girl by the name of Vanessa Curry. Word of the affair leaked out into the Lakers organization and Vanessa Curry was forced to resign. Kobe had his lawyers send over a cease and desist letter, and requested they removed any and all references to Bryant from the site (which appears to have been ignored).
This is what The Dirty alleges:
“DIRTY ARMY intel was received about an alleged torrid affair between Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Curry (not his wife, Vanessa Bryant). The Dirty Source stated this was definitely a cloak and dagger affair… completely covert. The Dirty Source is holding images as well. This alleged affair lead to the forced resignation of Vanessa from the 07-08 Laker Girls Squad. We reached out to Vanessa and the Laker’s organization to get statements. The Lakers claim that Vanessa resigned from the squad to pursue a “hosting career”. Vanessa obviously did not want to speak… though BTW she has a sexy voice!”
Do you think reporting/blogging of this nature does more harm than good? Do you enjoy hearing the juicy details of athlete infidelity and other miscellaneous debauchery? Or are you a “traditionalist” in the sense that you only wish to hear whats relevant on the field of play? Vote in the poll below….

PERIOD.
Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs are a scar on the ass of the NBA. If I had to create a ranking in terms of entertainment, watching the Spurs play basketball would land somewhere between C-Span and watching my grandma nod off on the porch. San Antonio has terrorized the NBA playoffs for the better part of the last 10 years. It’s like they’ve been commissioned by satan to drive all the viewers away, one fundamentally sound pick and roll at a time.
The Detroit Pistons are only slightly less boring than San Antonio, but that’s only due to the interesting cast of characters on the team. The highlight of any Pistons game is the inevitable moment Rasheed Wallace snaps and gets a technical foul. I used to find enjoyment in laughing at the fact that Rip Hamilton had cornrows and a receding hairline at the same time, but he had to be difficult and shave his head. Now I’ve been reduced to staring at that weird silver patch in the back of Rasheed Wallace’s head.
I don’t want to waste my NBA Finals experience in agony. For the love of god, Kobe and Kevin Garnett need to pull their teams through.
