Who’s Going To Step Up To Fight Paul Williams?

October 1st, 2008 . by Dell

The welterweight and middleweight divisions are rich with talent. Anywhere from 147lbs to 160lbs you can find numerous world class fighters capable of being champions.

…….and NONE of them want any parts of Paul Williams.

Antonio Margarito is currently #1 on fans lists as the pound for pound best fighter in the world, and he won’t even entertain a rematch with the one man who kicked his ass in 2007. Floyd Mayweather is retired, Shane Mosley doesn’t want any, Miguel Cotto doesn’t want any, and Oscar De La Hoya wants to pick on 135 pounders.

The only man willing to face off with Paul is Joshua Clottey, which will be a good fight, but it lacks the intrigue and money that Williams deserves.

Here is Paul in action from this past Saturday, kicking the ever loving sh-t out of a poor fellow named Andy Kolle.

Antonio Margarito Beats Miguel Cotto By 11th Round TKO

July 26th, 2008 . by Dell

“Almost” like I predicted yesterday, Antonio Margarito defeated Miguel Cotto in a TKO victory. Margarito’s insane amount of pressure built as the bout wore on and eventually wilted Cotto in round 11. By the time the fight ended, Cotto had already been to the floor once and his face was very bloodied. The camera panned over to Miguel’s wife and child who were sitting ringside, and they were both crying… so that gives you an idea of the amount of punishment he took in the last round.

Cotto was originally winning the fight through the first six rounds, he easily outboxed the slower Margarito and continually beat him to the punch. However, Margarito was like a war tank….everything Cotto threw seemed to bounce right off of him. Antonio charged forward for 11 straight rounds until Cotto simply couldn’t take it anymore.

One thing that seemed interesting is that when Max Kellerman asked Margarito if he would take a rematch with Paul Williams, the man who defeated him last year, Margarito seemed more interested in boxing Oscar De La Hoya.

Is he dodging Paul Williams? Or simply chasing a big money fight with the Golden Boy?

Video: Paul Williams DEMOLISHES Carlos Quintana [First Round Knockout]

June 8th, 2008 . by Dell

A few months ago Carlos Quintana upset Paul Williams and left many people (namely me) extremely confused. I had Paul Williams pegged as the 2nd best welterweight in the world behind Floyd Mayweather, and his performance was horrid.

However… the two fighters met last night in a rematch, and Paul Williams showed the world why he’s the heir to Floyd’s throne. What’s most impressive about this win is that it was a first round knockout, and NOBODY respects his punching power.
