News for all the sports video game heads out there, the PS3/Xbox 360 demo for UFC Undisputed drops today at 5pm. I’m personally looking toward to playing Fight Night Round 4 a little more, but I’m definitely gonna download this demo later on today. The gameplay looks a little mechanical compared to fight night, but I’m not gonna hold it against them. Below you can check out a video of how the game looks in action.
In other news…. MTV interviewed Mike Tyson about his new documentary and managed to slip in a few questions about video games. Surprisingly, he revealed he’s only played “Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out” once in his life, and he’s more of an action/first person shooter game fan.
Ultimate Fighting Championship and 50 Cent have sparked up a little partnership that allows them to use 50′s music in their programming, and in return 50 gets promotion for his new (soon-to-be-failed) album. 50′s fourth major release “Before I Self Destruct” was originally slated for a December 9th release, until they realized no one cared. The album is now being released at the top of 2009.
In the first video below, you’ll see a teaser for Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture (taking place tomorrow night) featuring 50′s new single “Get Up”. Then video at the very bottom of this post shows a meeting between 50 Cent and UFC Prez Dana White.
Well, the strongest competition to the UFC is now dead, dead, dead …. and it’s all because of the aftermath of Kimbo Slice’s devastating knockout loss to Seth Petruzelli.
Elite XC was already in heavy financial trouble, and hoped that CBS (who owned 20% of the company) would buy out the remaining portion and save the day. However, Seth Petruzelli’s comments that promoters implied he should not take Kimbo to the mat drew an investigation from the Florida State Athletic Commission. That investigation played a part in CBS NOT bailing Elite XC out of financial trouble, which doomed the company.
The biggest question in all of this is… Where does Kimbo Slice go from here?
Be sure to vote in the poll below to tell us your prediction!
Here’s a quick rundown for those of you who aren’t familiar with the MMA / Kimbo Slice thing.
Kimbo Slice is new to MMA and Elite XC is a new upcoming fight organization. The powers that be know that Kimbo is their cash cow, and the life of their company is directly affected by Kimbo’s performance, it’s in their best interest that he wins. So… the promoters allegedly approached Kimbo’s opponent and offered him a bonus if he stood up and traded punches with Kimbo (as opposed to taking the fight to the mat and wrestling/grappling/trying submission moves).
The notion is that this gives Kimbo an unfair advantage because he is more likely to win fights in that fashion. The Elite XC are in danger of being brought under investigation as a result. In this video, you’ll see Dana White (the president of rival organization UFC) and he’s absolutely pissed.
This video contains very foul language (but damn if it isn’t fun to watch!)
